Update
We are excited to see what the Lord is doing for and through us.
In the past six-months
two wooden church buildings have been started and one of them is almost
finished. This has happened because of our support partners all over the
United States and the Korean Methodists here in Ciudad del Este who want,
almost desperately, to minister to the Paraguayans. Unfortunately, our
scanner is awaiting new software from the States so we cannot post pictures
yet.
Luis, the little
nine-year old boy with clubfeet has his boots on at last. Our hardest job
now is to keep him from taking them off! He wants to run and try out his
new feet! JWe
continue to help Blas, Irma, and their three children with their financial
needs. Beehives were ordered and are ready to be taken to them in a few
days. They will be able to make 500,000 Guaranies per year from the sale
of the honey. How much is that, you ask? Well, only $140.00, but it is
an increase of 33 percent in their yearly income. We do not always see
big miracles but thank God, for all the “little
miracles” He sends our way.
You
can read more about our Christmas and other things that are going on in
our ministry by reading our December 2000 Newsletter.
We hope to have our scanner back on line within the next few days so don’t
forget to check our Photo Gallery. Now that I
am more acquainted with web-site management I will be able to help Carl
Peake, who has been the man behind the scene, and up-date the contents
more often. (By-the-way Carl, you are neither fired nor can you retire,
you’re too young anyways!)
About Ben and Jenny
Ben calls Louisiana home and Jenny is from Brazil. Ben previously served
in Brazil, Mexico and Paraguay. Since his marriage to Jenny in 1989, they
have ministered in Brazil and Paraguay. Recently, they have pastored two
churches in Paraguay, one composed of Paraguayans and the other of Toba
Indians. In addition, they served as chaplains at the Methodist Bible Institute
in Asuncion, worked with children, provided medical assistance, and translated
Christian materials into or from the three languages they speak: English,
Spanish, and Portuguese. On their return to Paraguay they will be studying
Guarani, which is the "language of the HEART" in Paraguay.
